GEOFFREY BAXTER

Whitefriars is arguably the best known name in English collectible glass with a huge following.  Initially known as James Powell & Sons, the glasshouse produced quality glass for some 300 years.  James Powell bought the existing glasshouse in 1834 and his son, Harry Powell, was responsible for some of the most beautiful glass ever made in England.  The most famous designer for Whitefriars in the 20th century, however, is Geoffrey Baxter whose iconic pieces include the Drunken Bricklayer vase, the Banjo (or threepenny bit, if you prefer), the Totem and many others.  Always hand blown, always of quality, Whitefriars glass will stand the test of time.  The vase on the right is a Geoffrey Baxter Volcano Vase.
