The glass from what is now known as the Czech Republic has a long history of innovation and production of quality glass.  Incorporating the region of Bohemia, it has long been famous as a glass production centre.  In a turn of events that appears counter-intuitive, the glass industry thrived under Soviet occupation, and the middle of the 20th century saw  Czech designers compete on even terms with the best of the Scandinavians.  Perhaps the next big thing in glass collecting, quality Czech glass is currently inexpensive, and certainly rewarding. to collect for its simple beauty.
