While the early 20th century saw British glass houses in apparent stagnation, the Scandinavians, in particular the Swedes, took glass design to a whole new level.  Simple lines, new treatments, and bold use of colour by exciting new designers such as Vicke Lindstrand, Sven Palmqvist, Ingeborg Lundin and Nils Landberg took Swedish glass houses such as Orrefors and Kosta to the top.  Collected extensively, Swedish glass from the mid to late 20th century compares favourably with glass from any other nation.
