Massive amber carafe

Stock Number: 3472

This is what we believe to be a massive amber glass carafe designed by Erik Hoglund for Boda of Sweden and dating from the middle of the 20th century, c1965.
The carafe is in excellent condition for its age.  This means, of course, that it shows the age related wear and tear to the rim of the base consistent with some 50 years of use.  It has a polished out pontil mark on the base.
The carafe has a flared pouring lip measuring 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) in diameter at the rim.   The neck is plain save for a single applied plain neck ring.  The neck flares to a cylindrical body measuring 15 cm (6 inches) in diameter and which sports a moulded, applied disk showing a bull's head, a favourite motif of Hoglund.  There is an etched mark to the base - "H238/320".  The carafe is 38 cm (15.2 inches) in height.  There are no chips, cracks, significant scratches or any obvious evidence of restoration.
It is made from amber glass and weighs in at 2.34 Kg.  No overseas buyers for this item please as the shipping costs would be prohibitive.
